Wilma Rae Reese was born October 20, 1953, to the late Womack Honeycutt and Dorothy Rogers. Wilma departed this life on Saturday, May 4, 2024, at home.
She attended Ouachita Parish High School. She was united in holy wedlock to Edward Reese, Jr., on April 4, 1971. She was a homemaker and she loved shopping. She became a faithful HSN and QVC shopper. She was a strong woman and accepted the things she could not change (sometimes with a fight). Even though she did not attend church, she believed in God. She played gospel music on Sundays and would not let us play anything else inside her house. She would say “No not on Sunday. I will never forget when the doctor told her that her cancer had come back and spread to various parts of her body which gave her about six months to live and all she said was “Okay.” He then turned to me and said, “Your mama is a strong woman. I’ve never met anyone that had such a calm reaction like your mom.” Her relationship with her niece Karen was so special that even when she didn’t know who I was, she started repeating Karen will help me and wouldn’t let me help her.
She was preceded in death by her mother, Dorothy Rogers; father, Womack Honeycutt; three sisters, Patricia Lewis, Betty Woods, and Jacqueline Traylor; two brothers, Sammie Drummer and Howard Drummer.
She leaves to cherish her memories: one daughter, LaShanda Reese of Tyler, Texas; three sons, Edward Reese III of Jackson, Mississippi, Tyrone Reese, and Darrick Reese of Monroe, Louisiana; three sisters, Joann (Herman) Zimmerman, Wanda Rogers, and Mary Cheffin; one brother, Larry Clark; one devoted niece, Karen Traylor; 18 grandchildren and 21 great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
