Brother Willie J. Brooks was born to the late James Brooks and Louida Modicure in Rayville, LA. He departed this life on February 23, 2023, at Delta Grande Skilled and Nursing and Rehab. He was preceded by his wife, Florida Beatrice Brooks. He also was preceded in death by two brothers, Earnest Anderson and Carroll Anderson, one sister, Hattie Lee Smith, and two great-grandkids.
He accepted Christ as his personal savior at an early age. He united with Mount Olivet Baptist Church, January 9, 1977, under the leadership of Reverend Oliver W. Billups, Jr., where he remained faithfully until death. He never lost his faith. He worked for the City of Monroe for 35 years. He was united in holy matrimony to Florida Beatrice on December 25, 1966.
He leaves to mourn: his three sons, Larry Godfrey (Jean) of Slidell, LA, Thomas Godfrey of Fairfield, CA, and Bobby Brooks (Deborah, Shreveport, LA; three daughters, Bessie Godfrey of Wrightville, AR, and Linda Godfrey and Mary Thomas (Robert), both of Monroe, LA; one brother, Daniel Brooks of Winnsboro, LA; one sister, Elizabeth Johnson of Winnsboro, LA; one goddaughter, LaShundra Bryant; he had twelve grandchildren, seventeen great-grandchildren, and two great-great-grandchildren; he also leaves two sisters-in-law, Gerlean Burnette of Monroe, LA, and Myrtle
Godfrey of Waterloo, IA; and a host of nieces, nephews, and friends.
