William Edward Parker Obituary

“And God shall wipe away every tear from their eyes; there shall be no more death, nor sorrow, nor crying, there shall be no more pain, for the former things have passed away.” – Revelation 21:4

William Edward Parker, affectionally known to the family as “BILLY,” was born July 10, 1958, to Vera Lee Parker and Lajewell Smith, in Ferriday, Louisiana.

Billy confessed his love for Christ at an early age and was baptized at Mount Olive Baptist Church, in Ferriday, Louisiana by the late Reverend Eugene Williams.

Billy’s early education was in the Concordia Parish school system in Ferriday, Louisiana. Billy relocated, at the age of 13, to New Orleans, Louisiana, and attended school in the Orleans Parish school system and graduated from Marion Abramson Senior High School in 1977.

Billy enrolled at the University of New Orleans after high school majoring in Criminal Justice. He also enlisted in the United States National Guard (serving eight years).

Billy began working as a security guard at various establishments. His last employment before relocating was with Bally’s Casino as a security guard for many years. After Hurricane Katrina, Billy relocated to Monroe, Louisiana, and worked at Walmart, Inc., until his retirement in 2023.

Billy joined Mount Zion Baptist Church after settling in Monroe and remained a faithful member until death.

On Sunday, December 1, 2024, God, in his infinite wisdom and divine love, called His loved one, WILLIAM EDWARD PARKER, from this earthly life. He was preceded in death by his parents; stepfather, Willie Bell, Jr.; beloved maternal grandmother, Helen Cubie Parker; and numerous aunts and uncles.

Cherishing his memory are his friend and companion, Deloris Moore of Monroe, LA; brother, Byron Craig Bell of Douglasville, GA; sister, Veronica Colette Smith of Monroe, LA; three aunts, Helen Parker Brown and Evelyn L. Parker of Ferriday, LA, and Sarah M. Parker of Monroe, LA; one niece, Ayanna Boyd Bell of Douglasville, GA; and a host of cousins, other relatives, and friends (some of them listed as honorary casket bearers).
