Brother William Green, Sr., was born on July 30, 1928, in Gilbert, Louisiana, to Mr. Steve Green, Sr., and Ms. Plina Gicks. He attended Cuba Elementary School, which was located inside a church. He accepted Christ at an early age and was baptized at Cuba Baptist Church under the leadership of Reverend R.L. Teats. He enjoyed singing in the Bright Lights Gospel Group.
He met and married the love of his life, Louise Moore, and moved to Monroe, Louisiana, where they enjoyed seventy-two years of marriage. To this union, six children were born.
William Green was a hard, dedicated worker. He worked for Strauss & Sons as a truck driver for many years and retired in 1993.
He was a kindhearted person willing to help anyone in need. His heart was his grandchildren; he spoiled them all. He was a faithful member of the Beth Eden Baptist Church, under the leadership of Reverend Tommie T. Taylor, until his health failed him. He departed this life on June 14, 2020.
He leaves to cherish his memory: his a wife of seventy-two years Louise Green; six children, two of whom preceded him in death, John Green and William Green, Jr., and four who survived him, Lula Mae Green, Robert Green. (Senna) of Washington, DC, Patricia Ziegler (Willie), and Ronald Green (Marilyn); sisters, Gloria Harris (Curtis), Francis Wilson, and Cora Hall; brother, Louis Green (Brenda); two brother and eight sisters who preceded him in death; six grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces, church family, and friends.
