Voniece Lee Banks Anderson was born to the union of Levi King and Celia Banks on November 17, 1942. She departed this life peacefully on August 19, 2025, at St. Francis Cabrini Hospital in Alexandria, LA. She accepted Christ at the age of four and became a member of the Ackland Creek Baptist Church. She attended Jonesville Consolidated High School. On September 20, 1960, she married the late Roosevelt (R. A.) Anderson, Sr., and to this union, five children were born.
Voniece worked as a paraprofessional at Jonesville Elementary School for many years and later transferred to the Department of Children Services from where she retired in May of 1995. She loved vacations, holidays, Order of the Eastern Star (where she served as Secretary and Past Matron), and spending time with family. She was a faithful member of the Ackland Creek Baptist Church, where she served as President of the Choir until her demise.
She was preceded in death by her parents; two children, Roosevelt Anderson, Jr., a.k.a. “Bubba” and Frances Crowell, a.k.a. “Yvette;” and siblings, Isabella Hart, Hester Mary Guedara, Ernestine Johnson, Barbara “Bobbie Jean” Fisher, and Sam “Shot” Branch.
She leaves to cherish her memory: her three children, Celia “Marcia” Webb (James) of Monroe, LA, Jonathan “Fatman” Anderson, Sr., (Carmen) of Vidalia, LA, and Gregory Levi Anderson of Baton Rouge, LA; one son-in-law, Arthur Crowell, Sr., of West Hartford, CT; thirteen grandchildren, Marisa Mackey (Earl) of Baton Rouge, LA, Wilford Green (April) of Fate, TX, Sarita Johnson of Jonesville, LA, Francia Harbor (Tyrone) of Jennings, LA, Jonathan “June” Anderson, Jr. (Clarissa) of Zachary, LA, Argee Crowell of Jonesville, LA, Arelia Crowell of West Hartford, CT, Jontray Anderson of the Colony, TX, Angela Webb of Addison, TX, Halle Anderson of Killeen, TX, Quintin Bradford of Nacagdoches, TX, Gretchen Anderson of Baton Rouge, LA, and Myles Anderson of Atlanta, GA; nineteen great-grandchildren and nine great-great-grandchildren; two special nieces, Mary Murray of Vidalia, LA, and Jean Ware of Metarie, LA; and a host of other relatives, friends, and loved ones.
