On December 26, 1950, Verga “Bon Bon” “Bunny” Walker was born to the late Joe Walker and Myrtis Williams in Delhi, Louisiana. She was the fourth born of eleven children.
Verga left Delhi and moved to Las Vegas, Nevada, in 1972. Verga later moved to New Orleans, Louisiana, and then moved to Amite, Louisiana, before finally moving back to Delhi, Louisiana, where she presided until her passing.
Verga gave her life to the Lord at an early age. She became a member of Mt. Pleasant Baptist Church and was baptized in Delhi, Louisiana. When she relocated to Amite, Louisiana, she became a member of Rose Valley Baptist Church, under the leadership of Reverend Bobby Shower, Sr. Verga eventually moved back to Delhi, where she became a member again of Mt. Pleasant Baptist Church, under the leadership of Reverend Jessie Drummer until her passing. Verga loved missionary work and helping people; She especially loved cooking for people.
Verga worked at Popeye’s Chicken in New Orleans, Louisiana, until she became disabled and could no longer work.
Verga never had any children of her own, but she helped rear a special nephew as her own child, Melvin Williams, Jr., and a special niece, Melenda Williams Coins.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Joe Walker and Myrtis Williams; one sister, Bessie Chatham (Lenard); three brothers, Adell Williams, Elton “Dob” Killian, and Melvin Williams, Sr.; extended brothers, Rudolph Williams, Sr. and Randolph Williams; and extended sister, Barbara Rogers.
She leaves to cherish her memories: three sisters, Bobbie Cage of Brandon, MS, Della (Keithen) Fountain of Delhi, LA, and Vivian (Lee) Jones of Winnsboro, LA; brothers, Kenneth (Patricia) Killian of Delhi, LA, Fred (Jennifer) Killian of Jackson, MS, Roy (Kawani) Williams of Delhi, LA, and Charles Jones of Rayville, LA; extended sisters, Teresa (Kenneth) Campbell of Atlanta, GA, Cammlia Williams of New Orleans, LA, Glenda (Paul) Collins of Delhi, LA, and Janice (Charles) Jones of Rayville, LA; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and special friends, Louise Henson, Clara Williams, and Elbert Walker.
