Thelma Willis, 71, was born April 5, 1953, in Monroe, Louisiana. She was the daughter of Eunice B. Lister from Wisner, Louisiana and the oldest of 12 siblings. She was widow of Jewel Spiller and Veteran Freddie Willis. She leaves behind her daughter, Lena Davis; dog, Angel; three grandchildren, ten great-grandchildren, a soon to be great-great-grandchild; and a host of nieces and nephews.
Thelma, a woman of God, was always in good spirits and stayed positive through any trial because of her faith in God. She had the most contagious smile; it was full of joy, and she spread it everywhere she went. No one was excluded from her love. She was a mother figure to anyone who needed it and a friend to all. You’re really going to be missed, “Beautiful”, a name she lived up to truly. Her spirit touched so many people. I thank you God for allowing us the time we had with one of your special angels here on Earth. rough her, we knew God’s love, God’s grace, and how patient God is.
On December 9, 2024, God welcomed Thelma back home to “Walk around Heaven with the Lord”, one of her favorite gospel hymns. Thelma will be missed and her legacy lives on for generations to come because that’s the impact she le behind. It was not in vain. John 11:25-26 states, “Jesus said unto her, I am the resurrection and the life: He that believes in me, thou he was dead, yet shall he live: And whosoever liveth and believe in me shall never die.”
I would like to end Thelma’s eulogy with the Lord’s Prayer:
Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name; thy kingdom come; thy will be done; on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread. And forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive those who trespass against us. And lead us not into temptation; but deliver us from the evil one. For thine is the kingdom, the power and the glory, for ever and ever.
Amen.
