On July 31, 1952, a baby girl was born to Mr. Lonnie and Mrs. Hazel Hudson in Shreveport, Louisiana.
She came from a family of fourteen daughters and three boys. She attended the local school in Monroe, Louisiana. She accepted Christ at an early age. She was baptized by the late Reverend H. Y. Bell of Riverside Missionary Baptist Church. Later, she united in marriage with Mr. Eddie Jones. To this union, three sons and one daughter were born. Sister Shirley has been together with Eddie forty-eight years and forty-seven years of marriage.
She was preceded in death by her father and mother, Mr. Lonnie and Hazel Hudson; nine sisters, Millie Marie Johnson, Clara Carr, Mary Ruth Alexander, Effie Walker, Janie Ellis, Inez Smith, Sally Ann Hudson, Enola Molly Hudson, and Leanna Rena Hudson; one brother, Clarance Hudson; and mother-in-law, Mrs. Willie Bell Jones-Mitchell.
She leaves to cherish her memories: her devoted husband, Mr. Eddie Jones; three sons, Eddie Hudson, Johnathan (LaShunda) Hudson, and Lamari (Bridget) Hudson; one daughter, Felecia (Markus) Lenard, all of Monroe, LA; eleven grandkids, six great-grands, five sisters, Jackie Lane Lewis, Ida Mae Hester, Amy (Michael) Wade, Gloria (James) Lewis, and Nelviney (Roderick) Smith; three brothers, Otis (Renee) Hudson, Lonnie (Barbara) Hudson, and Lawerence “Joe” Hudson (Shannon), all of Monroe; six sisters-in-law, Carolyn (Jerry) Pratt, Lillie Blakes, Dorothy Coleman, Linda Mitchell, Lisa Jones, and Laura Mitchell, all of Monroe, LA; two brothers-in-law, Jhonny Jones of Monroe, LA, and Edward Jones of Austin, TX; and a host of nieces, nephews, great-nieces and nephews, great-great-nieces and nephews, and other family and friends.
