On January 17, 2021, Sister Shirley Jones departed this life at Saint Francis Medical Center at 3:15 p.m. Sister Shirley Jones was born on May 24, 1950, to Pearlie Jones in Winnsboro, LA. She was reared by the late Minister Edward Bolden. She attended Richwood High School. In later years, Shirley was the owner of Hollywood Snack Bar until her health failed her. She was employed and dedicated most of her adult life working in the family business that she served as a Soul Food Restaurant for many years. She was dedicated to serving food to the people in the community. Hollywood Snack Bar became a well-known restaurant under her leadership. She was preceded in death by: her grandmother, mother, brother, and her adoptive father. She spent her last years in Mary Goss Nursing Home under the management of Mrs. Louise Davis. In 2019, she was crowned the Valentine Queen of Mary Goss Nursing Home. She also attended the church service every Wednesday morning at the nursing home. In January 2021, she was united with Greater New Antioch Baptist Church, under the leadership of Pastor John L. Russell, II. She leaves to cherish her memories: her stepmother, Louise Bolden of Monroe, LA, other family, and friends.
