Mother Sharon Glenette Finley Cowart was born on January 17, 1955, in Tallulah, Louisiana, to the union of Dorothy Mae Turpin and Arte Finley.
She graduated from McCall Senior High School in Tallulah, Louisiana, and Grambling State University. She worked as a receptionist at Child Protective Services for 30 years.
She accepted Christ at an early age and joined Greater Free Gift Missionary Baptist Church where she served as a member of the choir, and she faithfully served in the Mother’s Ministry.
On March 7, 1998, Sharon united in holy matrimony with Michael Wayne Cowart.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Dorothy Mae Turpin; father, Arte Finley; and grandson, Jimarra Finley.
Her life will be cherished forever by: her husband, Michael Wayne Cowart; four children, Clavel Finley (LaKisha) of Arlington, TX, Marquita Finley of Memphis, TN, Lytovia Finley, and LaChandra Finley of Monroe, LA; six sisters, Linda Anderson of Vicksburg, MS, Karen Finley Washington of Monroe, LA, Lois Turpin of Tallulah, LA, Eva Finley and Barbara Finley of New Orleans, LA, and Brenda Thompson (Roy) of Atlanta, GA; three brothers, Robert Finley of New Orleans, LA, Melvin Turpin (Angenet) of Las Vegas, NV, and Larry Turpin (Frankie) of Arlington, TX; two sisters/cousins, Tammie Jones of Montgomery, AL and Carolyn Robinson of Tallulah, LA; two brother/cousins, Fredrick Turpin of Las Vegas, NV and Lester (Cecelia) Turpin of Tallulah, LA; mother-in-law, Mrs. Merdis Cowart of Monroe, LA; three sistersin-law, Diane Ballard (Preston), Shelia Carprue of Monroe, LA, and Paula Lee (Corbin) of Baton Rouge, LA; five brothers-inlaw, Edgie (Julia), Bobby (Shirley), Randy (Glenda), Nicholas (Khajuana), and Paul, all of Monroe, LA; thirteen grandchildren; thirteen great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives, friends; and the Greater Free Gift Missionary Baptist Church family.
