Schwana Patrece Jones

Sister Schwana Patrece Johnson-Jones was born October 30, 1969 in Independence, Louisiana to Jacqueline and Jerry Johnson.

Schwana confessed Christ at an early age at Little Bethel Baptist Church, where she was a faithful member for over 20 years.

Schwana then relocated to New Zion Baptist Church in Delhi, Louisiana as a faithful member, where she enjoyed attending Sunday School and Third Sunday church services.

Schwana married the love of her life, Mikel W. Jones, on July 20, 1997. To this union, 5 children were born.

Schwana’s son, Mikel Jones, Jr.; her two grandmothers, Eva Briggs and Willie Mae Johnson; and her two grandfathers, Henry Briggs and Ellis Johnson, preceded her in death.

Schwana worked as a dietitian at Deerfield Nursing and Rehabilitation Center for over 20 years until her health declined. Schwana enjoyed her job and was loved by many, especially her two best friends, Linda Clark, and Georgia Williams.

One of Schwana’s favorite pastimes was spending time with her husband, children, and grandchildren. Along with sitting outside and by the stove, she enjoyed cooking her favorite meals and traveling to her hometown of Amite, Louisiana. Schwana enjoyed shopping at her favorite stores, Cato’s and JCPenny’s. She enjoyed watching her favorite old-time television shows and Lifetime movies.
Schwana was known as Momma/Ma, Granny, Auntie, Godmother, and Shay.

On August 4, 2020, surrounded by family, quietly and peacefully she removed her garment of mortality, stepped on the wings of eternity, and took flight to be with her mighty Lord.

Schwana leaves to cherish her legacy: her husband, Mikel Jones; her four children, Detorria Johnson of Tallulah, Louisiana; Kieron Johnson of Rayville, Louisiana; Keilon Jones and A’Naya Jones, both of Delhi, Louisiana; her caring mother, Jacqueline Johnson of Hammond, Louisiana; her father, Jerry Johnson of Ponchatoula, Louisiana; three grandchildren, Haidyn Allen, Keilon Jones, Jr., and Chase Jones; one God-son, Cavin Jackson; two sisters, Krishna Jackson of Ponchatoula, Louisiana, and LaTanaka Johnson of Houston, Texas; friends, Linda Clark, Georgia Williams, and Edna McCall, and a host of nephews, nieces, cousins, aunts, and uncles.
