Ruby Easter

Sister Ruby Lee Banks Easter was transitioned to glory on January 20, 2025. Her life was characterized by dedication to her family and devotion to God. She was born to the late Jimmy Nash and Johnnie B. Burch in Newellton, Louisiana, on February 1, 1949.

She was preceded in death by her stepfather, Emmitt Burch; three sisters, Glenda Banks, LeeVerne Banks, and Gwendolyn Butler; and one brother, Danny Nash.

Ruby accepted Christ at an early age. She united with Mt. Horeb Baptist Church.

She was educated at Eastside High School, Class of 1967. She married her husband of 50 years, Melvin Easter—a union that produced three children.

She was employed with Huttig public schools at Huttig, Arkansas, for many years, where she was affectionately called “Mrs. Easter.”

She leaves to cherish her precious memory: her husband, Melvin; two sons, Mark of Farmerville, LA and Elvin (Jessica) of Cedar Hill, TX; one daughter, April of Farmerville, LA; six grandchildren, Mykeavie, Kyla, Jahki, Kate, Layla, and Daija; one great-grandson, Akevion; loving mother, Johnnie B. Burch of Marion, LA; two brothers, Emmitt “Cube” Burch of Marion, LA and Willie Trass of of Rayville, LA; two sisters, Alma McCumillan of Newellton, LA and Jimmie Dell Knighton of Natchitoches, LA; sister-in-law, Lenora Roach of Huttig, Arkansas; her dear cousin, Delois Rainey of Las Vegas, NV; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
