Roosevelt Handy

Roosevelt Handy who departed this life on June 14, 2020 was born November 19, 1948 in Bosco, LA to the late George and Lillie Mae Handy.

Roosevelt received the LORD as a young man. He was baptized at Logtown Baptist Church under the leadership of Reverend Staten.

Roosevelt attended Richwood High School and was a proud member of the class of 1966. 

Roosevelt was proceeded in death by his late wife Annie O’Dell Handy and their son Roosevelt Handy.

Roosevelt gave 33 years of service to Swanson Center for Youth, formally known as Louisiana Training Institute.

In 1997, he married Bridgette Daniels Handy. To this union one child was born.

Roosevelt leaves to cherish his memory his loving wife of 23 years, his brother Leroy Handy (Ivy) of Monroe, LA, sister Georgia Mae Handy of Monroe, LA,  siblings of the Smith Family, and his aunts Martha Handy and Barbara Handy. Roosevelt was also loved and cherished by his beloved children Frederick Cloman of Dallas, TX, James Wilson of Monroe, LA, Frankie Cloman of Houston, TX, Roosevelt Woodard (Sharon) of Monroe, LA, Bessie Hill Jackson (George) of Monroe, LA, Roosevelt Dean (Julia), Kurston Vaughn (Nicholas), Uganda Smith, Brandon Dean (Lisa), Katrina Ballard, Shimika B. Daniels, those he loved as his own Wanda Hill Johnson (Carnell) and Jontae Turpin, 24 grandchildren, and 2 great-grandchildren. He also leaves a host of nieces, nephews, and cousins.
