Robert James Ricks was born on July 29, 1950 in Monroe, LA to the union of late Clyde Brown and Bertha Mae Ricks Brown. Robert was the third child of 9 siblings, four of whom have preceeded him in death. He professed his faith in Christ and was baptized at an early age at Riverside Baptist Church in Monroe, LA.
Having a desire to steer the children in his neighborhood down the right path, Robert spent a great deal of his life being a father to the fatherless and sharing his kindred spirit and life lessons with the adolescents he encountered. More than ever, he desired to help the kids around him live a better life. Not only was Robert a community advocate, he was also a coach in the community - an entrepreneur, extraordinary father, brother & proud uncle. Robert was truly a servant at heart and he was loved by many.
Robert was preceded in death by his parents, Clyde and Bertha Mae Ricks Brown; Four (4) siblings, Bobby Ricks, Linda Faye Gibson, Dorothea Smith, and Anthony Ricks (Edward).
Robert leaves to cherish his memory: sons, Rodrico McNeal (Altovia) of Dallas, TX and Michael Roberson (Monroe, LA); daughter, Vanazuela Ricks of Monroe, LA; grandchildren, Champion McNeal, J’Mier Robinson, Erick Watts, Kiera Robinson, T’Kyra Morehead, and Tamyra Robinson; siblings, Roy Ricks aka Boosie, Betty Jackson, Linda Hatfield, ,and James Ricks; and a host of other family, friends, and loved ones.
