Robert "Coach" Ricks Obituary

Robert James Ricks was born on July 29, 1950 in Monroe, LA to the union of late Clyde Brown and Bertha Mae Ricks Brown. Robert was the third child of 9 siblings, four of whom have preceeded him in death. He professed his faith in Christ and was baptized at an early age at Riverside Baptist Church in Monroe, LA.

Having a desire to steer the children in his neighborhood down the right path, Robert spent a great deal of his life being a father to the fatherless and sharing his kindred spirit and life lessons with the adolescents he encountered. More than ever, he desired to help the kids around him live a better life. Not only was Robert a community advocate, he was also a coach in the community - an entrepreneur, extraordinary father, brother & proud uncle. Robert was truly a servant at heart and he was loved by many.

Robert was preceded in death by his parents, Clyde and Bertha Mae Ricks Brown; Four (4) siblings, Bobby Ricks, Linda Faye Gibson, Dorothea Smith, and Anthony Ricks (Edward).

Robert leaves to cherish his memory: sons, Rodrico McNeal (Altovia) of Dallas, TX and Michael Roberson (Monroe, LA); daughter, Vanazuela Ricks of Monroe, LA; grandchildren, Champion McNeal, J’Mier Robinson, Erick Watts, Kiera Robinson, T’Kyra Morehead, and Tamyra Robinson; siblings, Roy Ricks aka Boosie, Betty Jackson, Linda Hatfield, ,and James Ricks; and a host of other family, friends, and loved ones.
