Ricky Benard Wiley was born on December 4, 1960, in Columbia, Louisiana to the union of Katie and Caesar Wiley, Sr. He was the youngest of eleven children, four sisters and seven brothers. Early in life he married Natalie Mitchell (1982) and from this union were born three children, two sons and one daughter. He later married Susan Woodruff (2004).
Ricky attended Caldwell Parish High School where he played basketball and football. Ricky graduated from Caldwell Parish High School in 1978. Ricky attended Grambling State University where he majored in Engineering and pledged Sigma Tau Epsilon. Ricky graduated from Grambling in 1982.
His interests included socializing, spending time with family, and hunting in his childhood. Ricky retired from AT&T in 2020 after 20 years. Upon retiring Ricky became an entrepreneur opening Hometown Club and Grill and real estate investor of over 15 properties in Columbia, Louisiana.
Ricky departed life on April 22, 2024, in Shreveport, Louisiana. He leaves to cherish his memory: two sons, Yaqub and Junaid Mitchell; one daughter, Kenya Whittington; one stepson, Travis Woodruff; four sisters, Rosa Vassel, Belinda Reitzell, Vanessa Williams, and Doris Whittington; and three brothers, Glenn Varner, Roderick Wiley, and Gregory Whittington; four grandchildren, Tyrice Neal, Denasha Neal, Keira Usher, and Travis Turner Jr.; two great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
