Reverend Ronald Hunter, Sr. Obituary

Pastor Ronald Hunter Sr., a good and faithful servant of God and God’s people, was born November 22, 1945 to the late Rev. Theodore Marshall Carter and Theodoshia Hunter in Passaic, New Jersey.

He was preceded in death by his parents, and siblings, Butch Hunter and Marie Hunter; children, Kevin Campbell and Joseph Jordan (Angela).

On January 9, 1982, Pastor Hunter and his forever love, JoAnn (Precious) Jordan Hunter, became one; united in blissful matrimony; to this wonderful union, eight children were born.

Pastor Hunter went back to earn his high school diploma and graduated on March 26, 1984 in the state of New Jersey.

He accepted his calling and received his Certificate of Licensing in November 16, 1980 at Friendship Baptist Church, New Jersey. He was ordained at Sunlight Baptist Church under the leadership of Rev. R.O. Wilson on November 16, 1985.

The first church he pastored was Sunlight Baptist Church, New Jersey. He was invited to preach in Louisiana for a friend. As a result, he became the Pastor of New Salem Missionary Baptist Church, West Monroe and relocated to Northeast Louisiana. Before retiring from the Pastoral Ministry, he pastored Glorious Hope Baptist Church, Monroe.

After retiring from the Pastoral Ministry, he later joined Greater New Antioch Baptist Church on July 1, 2018 under the leadership of Rev. John L. Russell II where he served at the Minister of Pastoral Care and Security.

Before becoming a member of Greater New Antioch Baptist Church, his membership affiliation was with several congregation: Zion Spring Baptist Church, Liberty Hill, Evening Star Baptist Church, and Faith United.

After relocating to Monroe, Louisiana, before retiring, he spent 23 years employed at Graphic Packaging.

His greatest joy came while spending time with his family and church family. His wife was the apple of his eye.

On June 9, 2021, this faithful servant of God, husband, father, grandfather, mentor, and friend answered his final and most important call to serve, hearing his Father say, “Well done”, and inviting him into the heavenly hosts.

His presence and immense love will be missed, yet the many memories will remain for his loved ones to treasure. He leaves to cherish those memories: his wife of 39 years, JoAnn; 6 children, Thomas Campbell (Debra), Conrad Campbell (Leola, aka- Faye), Tyrone Campbell, Angela Jordan, Ronald Hunter II, and Valerie Hunter; 23 grandchildren, Denise Campbell, Thomas Campbell III, Trinitty Campbell, Trinna Campbell, Kelly Campbell, Courtney Campbell, Crystal Campbell, Jasmin Bailey, Jane Jordan, Joneice Jordan, Joseph Jordan, Ronald Hunter III, T’Kyah Lattimore, Michael Aubrey Jr., Shomari Jackson, Morgan Mitchell, Jaekwon Mitchell, Destiny Jackson, De’Vion Warren, Jakob Warren, Tiger Woods, Nahyrah Johnson and Azaryah Johnson; 12 great grandchildren,  Akylii Aubrey, Malik McGraw, Caleb Laing, David Laing Jr., Layla Campbell-Stamper, Roniyah Rainey, Lyric Hunter, Ronald Hunter IV, Teighan Bailey, Tauren Bailey, Bailey Glover and Madisyn Glover; 5 God children, Amber Jones, Ibn Johnson, Lakeia Benjamin, Pastor Lavell Warren and Aleka Woods; and a host of cousins, nieces, nephews and friends.
