Pastor Gary Lynch entered this life on January 31, 1958, to Alberta Lynch Edwards and A.C. McDowell.
He accepted Christ at an early age and was baptized at the Union Valley Baptist Church of Delhi, Louisiana, under the leadership of the late Reverend David Lee Slack, where he sang in the choir. Later, he became a member of the Union Valley Baptist Church of Baskin, Louisiana, under the leadership of the late Reverend Joe Lee Spencer, where he served as an usher before accepting his call to the preaching ministry on August 2, 1987. He served faithfully as Youth Pastor at the True Light Baptist Church of Winnsboro under the leadership of the late Reverend Herman Harris, Sr., for seventeen years until he was called to pastor the Good Hope Baptist Church of Delhi, Louisiana. He served there dutifully from September 2010 - October 2015. He expressed a great passion for the prison ministry.
He departed this life on June 17, 2024, after life’s trials and tribulation. He passed away surrounded by family and friends.
He received his early education at Central and Baskin High Schools. He labored at Tifton Aluminum and as a well, sought after carpenter across all North Louisiana.
On May 12, 1979, he married the love of his life Barbara Jeanette Perry (Punkin). To this union came five children, of which he loved dearly.
He was preceded in death by his stepfather, Esau Edwards.
He was survived by: his wife of forty-five years, Barbara Perry Lynch (Punkin); father, A.C. McDowell; mother, Alberta Lynch Edwards; four sons, Jerome Lynch (Yolanda) of Monroe, LA, Michael Lynch (Patricia) of Ruston, LA, Kevin Lynch(Shavondra) of Frisco, TX, and Marcus Lynch (Joslyn) of Forney, TX; one daughter; LaToya Lynch of Monroe, LA; bonus daughter, Erica Randle (Michael); four brothers, Charles Daniels (Margaret), Harold McDowell (Kathy), Zachary McDowell (Bennie), and Brandon May (Chandra); five sisters, Josephine Lynch-Bryant, Sandra Moore (Tommy), Arniece McDowell, Yolanda Daniel, and Ann Marie Killian (Anthony); three godsons, Jermal Clay, Christopher Johnson, and Coy McDowell; four goddaughters, Barbara Johnson-Ward (Darrel), Farris Wilmore, Paulette Holland, and Michelle Kilpatrick (Roger); eighteen grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; two close friends, Troy Miles and Eddie Butler; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.
