Rekita Michelle Owens was born in Monroe, Louisiana, on April 21, 1978 to Ricky Dale Owens and Queen Owens. Rekita Owens accepted Christ at an early age. She united with the New Antioch Baptist Church February 9, 2008 under the leadership of pastor John L. Russell Sr. She served as a member of the Adult Usher Ministry, Nurses Guild and Young Adult Ministry.
Rekita attended school in the Monroe City School System. She was a graduate of the Carroll High School Class of 1996.
She was a caregiver and received her CAN License. She later returned to college and became certified as a Pharmacy Technician. She was employed at the Walmart Store 278 in Shreveport La. where she was a Pharmacy Tech.
She was preceded in death by the love of her life Charles ( Chuck) James, Maternal Grandparents: James Woods, Daisy Mildred Weatherspoon,, James Weatherspoon, Paternal Grandparents: Cornelius Ferguson Mary Owens, Aunt : Faye Esther Owens.
On Saturday, May 4, 2019, she departed this life at the L.S.U. Oschners Medical Center in Shreveport, La. after a sudden illness.
She leaves to cherish her memories: Three Children:: 1 Son: Jalen Langley, Two Daughters: Carmen Denise James, and Clarissa Danielle James Her Devoted Parents: Ricky Dale Owens Sr. and Queen Esther Owens , One Brother: Ricky Dale Owens Jr., One Sister: Quamekia Owens, Three Nephews: Ricky Owens III, Quar’Rie Owens, Quay’Ton Owens, Eight Aunts, Seven Uncles, Two Special Great Aunts: Jerlene Barnett , Myrtle Godfrey, Best Friend : Tara Slater , Special Friends Denarieo T & Tamara Turner, A host of other Great Aunts, Uncles, Cousins, Walmart Co- Workers & other Friends
