Ray Charles McDowell was born on March 20, 1956, to the late Syl and Annie Bell McDowell in Franklin Parish. He made his transition from this life to his new home on Monday, September 6, 2021.
Ray Charles was very kind and friendly. He loved his family and friends and had much respect for people. He believed in treating people like he wanted to be treated.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Syl and Annie Bell McDowell, two brothers, Willie and Sylvester “Duke” McDowell, and two sisters, Emily McDowell-Williams and Rubie “Tank” McDowell-Frazier.
He leaves to cherish his sweet memories: his wife, Sallie Mae McDowell; three daughters, Alicia Washington of Delhi, LA, Anotiona Washington, and Heather McDowell of Monroe, LA; seven brothers, Odell McDowell of Detroit, MI, Shelley (Doris) McDowell of Monroe, LA, Linsey (Jackie) McDowell of Baytown, TX, Isaac McDowell of Delhi, LA, Larry (Shelia) McDowell of Baytown, Texas, Rufus (Linda) McDowell of Lake Providence, LA, and Bernard (Tammy) McDowell of Delhi, LA; four sisters, Mildred Heard of Detroit, MI, Watet McDowell of New Orleans, LA, Eula McDowell of Delhi, LA, and Brenda (Joel) Thompson of Monroe, LA; one brother-in-law, Don Williams of New Orleans, LA; one uncle, Luther Puckett of Detroit, MI; ten grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
