PERRY EDDISON MARTIN was born December 31, 1970, in Monroe, Louisiana, to the union of Reverend Dr. Lawrence R. Martin and Barbara T. Martin. On June 17, 2026, in Monroe, Louisiana. Perry transitioned June 17, 2026
Perry confessed Christ at an early age at Trenton Baptist Church in West Monroe, Louisiana. He was baptized by his father, the late Reverend Dr. Lawrence R. Martin.
In his school days, he played football for West Monroe Junior High School and played the saxophone in Carroll High School band. After high school, he enrolled in Grambling State University, where he earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Marketing. He was currently working for Sedgwick in claims management.
He leaves to cherish his memory: his son, DeVonte’ P. Martin of Norcross, Georgia; daughter, Paris S. Martin of Houston, Texas; grandson, Braxton R. Martin of Norcross, Georgia; mother, Barbara T. Martin of Monroe, Louisiana; brother, Lawrence R. Martin II (Kimberly) of Stafford, Texas; sister, Chantel M. Taylor of Spring, Texas; three nephews, Austin A. Martin, Ryan T. Martin, and Justin R. Taylor, all of Texas; godmother, Rotena Russell of Monroe, Louisiana; godbrother, Reverend John L. Russell of Monroe, Louisiana; along with a host of aunts, uncles, family and
friends.
He was preceded in death by his father, Reverend Dr. Lawrence R. Martin; godfather, Reverend Dr. John L. Russell, Sr.; and brother-in-law, Julius R. Taylor, Jr.
