Patrick Morris Obituary

Patrick Phaion Morris was born to Archie Shears and Eula Morris on August 10, 1963, in Monroe, Louisiana. He departed this life on Tuesday, February 18, 2025, at LSU Oschners
Hospital in Monroe, Louisiana. He was baptized at five years old at the Rose of Sharon Baptist Church under the leadership of Elder. J. B. Brown. He attended J. S. Clark Elementary School and Carroll Jr. High School before graduating from Carroll High School in 1981, where he played basketball under the late Coach Jimmy Jones. He spent his growing up years in the Washington/Adams Street area. The family later moved to the Booker T. area, then to Garden Park.

He served in the United States Army after graduation. Upon returning back to Monroe, he was employed in various positions. His most recent employment was at the City of Monroe Public Works Department. He was known as "the life of the party" by all who knew him. There wasn’t a family gathering where he wasn’t the center of attention. He had a joke and a smile for everyone. He loved his immediate family and was deeply loved by his numerous cousins and friends. Patrick fondly assigned nicknames to various family members, from his nieces and nephews to his cousins. He was a great cook and his nieces recalled him making them pancakes "as big as the plate" when they were younger. They also recall him being the strictest babysitter ever! "Big Daddy", as his late great uncle Buddy affectionately called him, had a heart as big as Texas and was always willing to help until his health wouldn’t allow him.

Patrick leaves to cherish his loving memory: his mother, Eula Morris Johnson; father, Archie Shears; sisters, Mary Ann Williams (Charles) of Houston, TX, Audrey B. Jordan (Mark) of Carona, CA; brothers, Gerald Wayne Morris and Rodney M. Morris (Jennifer), both of Monroe, LA; cousin/sister, Vicki Smith (Thelbert) of Monroe, LA; special friend, Diane Caldwell; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and countless friends. He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Mary Lee and Robert Morris, Sr., and Joe Lee and Isaac Ross, Sr.; aunt, Fannie Bell Andrews; uncles, Robert Morris, Jr., Larry Bright, and Isaac Ross, Jr., and various aunts, uncles, and cousins.
