What A Life We Had
First Lady Ola Mae Hunter Payton, better known as “Babycakes” was born on January 6, 1950, in Rayville, Louisiana, to Carrie Dell Hunter and Elzie Hunter, Sr. Ola M. Hunter Payton was an alumni of Rhymes High School in Rayville, Louisiana. She also attended Malcolm X College to study Medical Lab Technician. Ola worked in several occupations including a business owner with an in home daycare. Ola served in various capacities in the local ministry over the years. She served in many capacities at the Christian Service M.B.C. Among them are: Mission Ministry President, Superintendent of Sunday School, Usher, Primary Sunday School Teacher, and a member of the Inspirational Choir. She also had a passion to decorate the church bulletin board according to the season.
In addition, Ola served on a district level in ministry. She was positioned as Chaplain of the Health Care Ministry, Chaplain of the Women’s Department, and Secretary of the Women’s Department. She was preceded in death by her parents, Carrie Dell Hunter and Elzie Hunter; grandmother, Sally Bass Dunn; sisters, Leslie Hunter, Lisa Hunter, and Cathy Hunter; grandson, Travis Payton; and great-grandson, Ka Marieh Jenkins.
She leaves to cherish her memories: daughters, Vickie Payton Wilson (Oheal) and Gwendolyn Payton; sons, Anthony Payton and Robert Payton, Jr. (Patricia Richard Payton); grandkids, Chamill,
Natasha, Adrekia, Roberneshia, Destiny, Kantonia, Te’unna, Robert Jr., Romelo, and Rdanglo; ten great-grandkids; two great-great-grandsons; sisters, and brothers, Elzie Hunter, Benniel (Bonnie) Hunter, James (Katie), Ricky (Gwendolyn), Sammy (Queenie), Rocky Hunter, Maurice Hunter, Sammy Booker, Sallie Berry-Chase (Lamar), Vanessa Hunter (Robert), Sharon Hunter NuGlenda (Micheal) Jacobs, Patricia (Otis) Williams, Carlyn Hunter, Debra (Jiles) Lawson, Paula Hunter Matthew, and Diane Booker; two godkids, Tori Hunter (Brick) and Viv; and one godson, Roderick Turner.
