Life of Mother Rosie Lee Young
Mother Young was the daughter of Grover Brock and Mary Goins. She was the fourth child of six of Grover Brock and the only child of Mary Goins. She was born April 20, 1931, in Crowville, Louisiana. Her formal education was limited, but her love, wisdom, and knowledge lived and demonstrated through god’s immeasurable blessings.
At an early age, she confessed her love for Christ and began her walk with the Lord. She was a faithful choir member and Usher in the house of the Lord. Mother Young was a member of Union Valley Baptist Church, under the leadership of her son, Reverend Eugene Young, Jr. She was committed to God and her church family. She found solace and unspeakable joy as a member and to the ministry. She served diligently on the mother board, mission board, and beautification club until her health began to decline. She displayed life, love, unity, security, and education as a homemaker. She was previously employed by Delhi Guest Home, as a cook. She lived a full and productive life; she married Eugene Young, Sr., April 11, 1960. She was a mentor and nurture of eight children and many grands, which she loved dearly. She was inspirational and overflowed with blessings for all. To her family, she was a loving, faithful, caring and trustworthy mother, grandmother, sister, auntie, cousin and friend. She was the matriarch, of the family. She’s the true definition of being “family oriented.”
I have fought a good fight, I have finished my course, I have kept the faith.
2 Timothy 4:7
The angels gathered near your bed, so very close, for they knew your readiness to lay down your burdens. Your eyes looked homeward to that place beyond the sky. When Jesus held outstretched arms, it was time to say goodbye.
