Mother Hester Warren-Douzart Obituary

Mother Hester Warren Douzart
"Madear"

“She is clothed in Strength and Dignity, and she Laughs without fears of the Future”
Proverbs 31:25

A Time to be Born
Mother Hester was born in Alto, Louisiana on May 17, 1921 to proud parents Ambrose & Matilda Goodlow Warren, who both proceeded her in death.

Mother was reared in a Christian home and taught the important of Jesus Christ in her life, along with her other siblings: Katie Loring, Harriett Louis, Alice Starr, and Anna Lee McClain, Tommie Turner, Reverend Ambrose J. Warren, Edward Warren, and her cousin Robert Bilton (who her mother reared as her own). All have proceeded her in death. Mother confessed her Faith and received her Salvation at the tender age of 13.

Mother united with and became an active member of Poplar AME Church in Rayville, Louisiana.

A Time to Live
"I am The Daughter of a King who is not moved by the world for my God is with me and goes before me. I do not fear Because I Am His."

Upon completing her education and being gainfully employed in Rayville, Louisiana, where she bored her first daughter, Bobbie Tean Warren. Mother decided to venture out into the world, and she moved to Alexandria, Louisiana.

Mother met and married her soulmate Eddie James Douzart on January 20th, 1940. In Alexandria, she and her family united with Bethel AME Church, where she became a faithful member. It was in Alexandria where she and Eddie extended their family with the birth of another daughter, Gloria Ann, and a son, Eddie, Jr. The small family of four moved back to Rayville, Louisiana, where she and her husband were gainfully employed and the family became members of Rankin Chapel AME Church. It is here in Rayville where they again extended their family with the birth of two sons, Ambrose and Robert and daughter, Amy.

“A Wise Woman Puts God First”
After spending some years in Rayville mother’s husband was offered employment in Oakdale, Louisiana; so, they traveled there and made it their home. While residing in Oakdale, Mother and her family united with Greater Hayes AME Church. In Oakdale, two more daughters were born, Linda and Joyce. As the family grew, so did the many employment opportunities for Eddie and Hester. The family was offered another job opportunity in Monroe, Louisiana. Saint John AME Church is where mother would attend singing in the choir with her children closely by. It is here in Monroe where they decided to put their roots down and where their baby daughter, Sharon was born. Our Queen stayed gainfully employed before accepting a job with a dentist Dr. Ralph King and family. Mother’s faith never wavier, she never missed a day from work while always being very attentive to her church, family, and her job. She and her husband never missed an event that their children were involved in church or school. Later in years, she and her husband moved their membership to Allen Chapel AME Church where she became President of the Pastor’s Aide, Class Leader, choir member, President of the Stewardess Board, and President of the Stewardess Shreveport – Monroe District. Mother has been a faithful member of Allen Chapel AME Church for the last 50 plus years.

In her later years, you could always find Mother training up young women in the church. Mother would often cook and feed the people in the neighborhood, and “ALWAYS” sitting on her famous front porch encouraging others and joking around with her children or anyone who may drop by.

“A beautiful woman uses her Lips for truth, her Voice for Kindness, her Ears for Compassion, her Hands for Charity, her Heart for Love, and Prays for All.”
Mother was preceded in death by two daughters, Bobbie Tean Warren-Williams and Gloria Ann Douzart-Hollingsworth.

“She open her mouth in wisdom and the teaching of Kindness was on her tongue”
Our Matriarch leaves her precious memories to her sons, Eddie J. Douzart (Tina), Reverend Ambrose E. Douzart (Donna), both of Monroe Louisiana; and Minister Robert L. Douzart (Sandra) of Tulsa, Oklahoma; her daughters, Amy L. Allen (Willie), Linda J. Williams (Roy), Reverend Joyce M. Wade (Bernard), and Sharon A. Douzart (Ivory), all of Monroe, Louisiana; a son-in-law, Willie Hollingsworth, 30 grandchildren, 76 great-grandchildren, and 48 great-great-grandchildren.
