Mother Gwendolyn Williams-Theus Obituary

Greater love has no one than this, than to lay down one’s life for his friends. - John 15:13

Gwen was born to Harry and Ruth Williams on July 21, 1956 in Houston, Texas. She was the first of four siblings. Gwen was sensitive, loving, and dedicated woman of God. She gave her life to save another on the evening of November 23rd in a house fire while sitting with an elderly, paralyzed patient.

Gwen attended high school in Houston, Texas.

Gwendolyn united in Holy Matrimony with Billy G. Theus on June 7, 1978. To this union, they shared six children. She was a wonderful mother and truly loved her family unconditionally. She enjoyed solving puzzles, shopping and reading, but most of all she enjoyed life and sharing the message of hope and love with everyone she knew. She was the strength of her family, a true and loyal friend when needed.

Billy and Gwen moved to Louisiana in 1998, where she rededicated her life to Christ. She joined and was baptized at Greater One Christian Fellowship Church. She later moved her membership to Turkey Creek Baptist Church, where her husband is the pastor and she remained until death.

She worked at Delhi Hospital in nutrition service and later as a sitter for the elderly.

Gwen was preceded in death by her father, Harry Williams, and younger sister, Danielle Williams.

She leaves to cherish her memories: a loving and devoted husband of 42 years, Reverend Billy Theus, six children, Laboyce Williams and Deitrick (DeeDee) Theus, both of Delhi, Louisiana; Kendra (Twinkle) Williams, Billy Theus, Jr., Dominque, and Ashley, all of Houston, Texas; her mother, Mrs. Ruth Williams; siblings, Jacqueline Williams, Cassandra Mason, and Harry Williams, all of Houston, Texas; 20 grandchildren, four great-grandchildren, and a host of nieces, nephews, and other relatives.
