Mother Deola Cammack Obituary

Mother Deola Cammack was born on October 1, 1930, in Tallulah, LA, to Charlie Dowden and Ophelia Whitney.

She confessed Christ at an early age and was baptized at Bright Morning Star Baptist Church in Vicksburg, MS. She later joined New Bethel M. B. Church under the leadership of Revered T. H. Turner. She served faithfully as the church secretary, the assistant president of the Beautification Club, and deaconess under the leadership of Reverend C. R. Redden, Reverend Theodore Lindsey, and Reverend Henry J. Harris.

Mother Commack worked at Madison Council on Aging as the nutrition director. She retired after twenty years of service. She also was a member of the Madison Senior Stars. She met Charley Cammack, Jr., and they were happily married for sixty years.

Mother Deola Cammack was preceded in death by her father and mother, Charlie Dowden and Ophelia Whitney; children, Theodore Lindsey, James Cammack, Ronald Cammack, Larry Dowden, and Debra Cammack; siblings, Olga Saily and Sylvia Jones; cousin, Brutus Whitney; grandchildren, Marlon Duncan and Cameron P. Cammack; sister-in-law, Ethel Cammack; and brother-in-law, Emitt Gray.

She leaves to cherish her memories: children, Carl Cammack, Sr. (Frankie), of Tallulah, LA, Latorya Cammack Johnson of Houston, TX, Sharon Cammack of Reno, NV, Artis Coleman (Betty) of Crestview, FL, Charlie Coleman (Isis) of McDonough, GA, and Barbara Whitney of Dallas, TX; daughters, Irma Lindsey of Tallulah, LA, Lisa Cammack of Las Vegas, NV, and Lakesha Brown of Dallas, TX; grandchildren, Chosen Holloway, Ira and Dexter Westley of McDonough, GA, Carl Cammack, Jr., Carrington Cammack, Cashawn Cammack, Delika Finks, James Cammack, Jr., Shekeena Neal, Karmyce Chisley, Ronald Cammack, Jr., Gayla Fletcher, Thelidra Lindsey, Donna Cooper, Theodore McGowan, Sr., Theodore McGowan, Jr., Amed Isan, Dave Wilson, Monica Moore, Christopher Willians, Kendra Stewart, Corey Coleman, Cam’Ron Coleman, Nia Saunders, Daikee Jackson, Car’Malace Cammack, Aubree and Karmyn Jackson, LaTasha Green, Sherell Green, Sharon White, Tenisha Yoki, Charles Hamilton, Immanuel Coleman, Jason Coleman, Jr., Jeremiah Coleman, Daniel Coleman, Taylor Coleman, Alexis Coleman, and Alexander Coleman; nephew, Derrick Young (Lawanda) of Tallulah, LA, and Markayla and McKinsey Mason of Houston, TX; sisters-in-law, Roberta Wiggians of Corpus Christi, TX, and Thelma Thomas of San Francisco, CA; nephews, Wilbert Wiggins (Angela) and Gregory Wiggins (Paula), both of Dallas, TX; Shelia Sylvester (James) of NC; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, great-grandchildren, and friends.
