Mose Edward Lyons was born December 17, 1946, to Lottie Mae Lyons and Melvin Lyons, Sr., of Choudrant, LA. He was the eldest of 14 children, affectionately known to his family as “Throw Down Lyons.” Mose was a father, brother, cousin, and friend to so many.

Mose Edward Lyons accepted Christ at an early age. He attended Boley Elementary and Richardson High School. He rededicated his life to Christ in 2022 at Olive Branch Baptist Church. Mose moved to Texas with his sister when his health began to decline.

On Wednesday, March 15, 2023, Mose Edward Lyons gained his heavenly wings. He was preceded in death by his parents, Lottie Mae and Melvin Lyons, Sr.; grandparents, Mose Lyons and Beulah Bass, Alice Bray Williams and Obie Williams; brother, Melvin Lyons, Jr.; son, Mose Lyons, Jr.; and daughter, ShaKeria Modest.

Precious and loving memories are cherished by his children, five daughters, Kim Modest of Fortworth, TX, Tawanna Hill of Ruston, LA, Keatha Valentine of Monroe, LA, Lisa Russell (Rickey) of Mississippi, and Leaundre Modest of Ruston, LA; seven sons, all whom live in Washington, Lamont Lyons, Ramon Lyons, Damon Lyons, Kenneth Lyons, Quincy Lyons, Melvin Lyons, and Mose D. Lyons; ten sisters, Minnie Scott, Carrie Thomas, Velma Lyons, Marilyn White, Mary Cook, Jacqueline Simon, Shelvia Lyons, Ethel Lyons, all of Monroe and West Monroe, LA, Letitia Zimmer of Dallas, TX, and Vanessa Dubose of Choudrant, LA; four brothers, Jimmy Lyons, Benson Lyons of West Monroe, LA, Rodney Lyons (Jamie) of Bastrop, and Henry Mardis of West Monroe, LA; and a host of grand and great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
