Gussie was born May 13, 1958, to the late John and Lillie Wilhite in Monroe, Louisiana. She gave her life to Christ at an early age; she was a member of the St. Luke Baptist Church. Later, she became a member of the Greater Free Baptist Church.
She attended Carroll High School and later got her high school diploma. Gussie worked at West Monroe High School as a cook for over twenty years, having to retire due to health issues.
Gussie had two children, Monica Morrison (Derrick) and Larry Hearn; sisters, Sammie Dunaway (Monroe, LA), Dell House (Oakland, CA), Sherryll Boyce (Oakland, CA), Nancy Richards (Sterlington, LA), and Cynthia Williams (Monroe, LA); and five grandchildren, Sha’Quoia Wilhite (Oakland, CA), MyKeaya Davis (Dallas, TX), Micheal Davis, Jr., (Monroe, LA), Da’Quondrick Davis (Monroe, LA), and Larry N. Hearn, Jr., (Monroe, LA). She also had seven great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by two sisters Joan Steam and Linda Hamilton, and two brothers, Johnny Wilhite and Walter Wilhite. She leaves to cherish: one Aunt Cecil Washington.
