Michael Glenn Beard was born to the union of Fred Beard, Sr., and Agatha Haynes Beard on April 15, 1961, in Monroe, LA.
Mike was educated in Swayze Elementary School and was a 1979 graduate of Richwood High School. Mike was a member of the Southside Boys Club, Little League, basketball team, and received accolades for being a good player. He also played basketball for the club. While in high school, Mike was a member of the Richwood High School basketball team.
Mike was baptized at an early age at the Mount Calvary Baptist Church under the leadership of the late Reverend W. M. Mathis.
Mike was active in all youth ministry, as we all were back in the day.
After graduating high school, Mike joined the Army and served active duty for three years at Fort Ord in Monterey, California, and reserved duty until 1985. He was honorably discharged in 1985. After his military service, he was employed with Regan Office Supply until the business closed. Later, he moved to Jacksonville, Florida, and worked in a dairy and other factory jobs. He later did lawn care work for elderly clients until his health started to fail. Mike loved his family and friends and to tell jokes and have fun. He never met a stranger whom he didn’t like.
He departed this life on September 21, 2023, at his home in Jacksonville, FL. He was preceded in death by his parents; sisters, Floris Johnson, Gloria Bennett, and Mary Hall; and one brother, Fred Beard, Jr.; one niece, Nyia Bennett; and two nephews, Nicolas DuPree and Will Hall, Jr.
He leaves to cherish his memories: his one son, Michael (Jessica) Smith of Fort Worth, Texas; six grandchildren, Trey, Gabbie, Michael, Jhayden, Major, and Cartier; four sister, Delores DuPree and Ruby Tolbert of Chicago, Illinois, and Patricia Daniels and Andrea (Terry) Dyer, both of Monroe, Louisiana; two brothers, Donald (Katia) Beard of Jacksonville, Florida, and Kerry Beard Homer, Louisiana; one aunt, Loretta Tompkin of Dallas, Texas; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives, and friends.
