Bill’s Life Journey
I have fought a good fight, I have finished my course, I have kept the faith.
II Timothy 4:7
A Time To Be Born
The life book of McKindley Charlie Lee Fegans (Bill) opened on February 17, 1947. He was the second child of Willie McKindley (Tisho) and Lula Mae Fegans of Columbia, LA.
A Time To Plant
Bill attended Union Central High School in Columbia, LA. He joined and was baptized at Brownville Baptist Church under the late Rev. Charlie Reed at an early age.
A Time To Sow
Bill was always building and tinkering with gadgets. He once made an electric hot dog cooker with a plank of wood, an electrical cord, and some nails. He also built stilts and a car. He loved working on automobiles. If you could describe what was going on with the vehicle, he could tell you what was wrong with the vehicle. He moved to Detroit, MI in July 1976 where he sought employment. He worked for Edward C. Levy Lyons Sand & Gravel for thirty- years as an Operations Engineer until he retired. He was an active officer in the AFL-CIO Local Union #324.
A Time To Love
Bill met, loved, and married Clara Kline of Monroe, LA. There were two daughters from this union, Angelia Hubbard and Zamertis Tippett. A third daughter, Crevon Collins was born out of the love shared between Bill and René Collins of Detroit, MI. Bill later shared a loving marriage with Sharon Hocker of Detroit, MI. They resided in Senoia, GA after they both retired and moved from Detroit. Sharon preceded Bill in death. From this union with Sharon, Kenneth ‘Geno’ Hocker became Bill’s son. Bill once again met and loved his life partner, Joyce Perkins of Swainsboro, GA until his passing.
A Time To Transition
On Saturday, September 30, 2023, the life book of Bill’s closed. He crossed over into eternal rest in the arms of his heavenly Father. This is where he was able to rest from the battle with Parkinson’s disease. He had expressed on occasion that he was tired. Bill loved life and his family; he’s considered a ‘man’s man’. He was as the younger generation would say an ‘OG’. He was a hard-working man. He meant what he said and said what he meant. Bill loved watching westerns, football, and reading automobile manuals.
A Time To Reflect
Bill was preceded in death by his parents, Willie and Lula Fegans, also his youngest sister, Shirley Evelyn Fegans. He resided at his home in Senoia, GA with his life partner Joyce Perkins until his passing. Others left to cherish Bill’s memory are his children Angelia Hubbard (Anthony) Las Vegas, NV; Zamertis Tippett (Craig) Cedar Hill, TX; Crevon Collins of Detroit, MI; Kenneth ‘Geno’ Hocker (Dawn) Atlanta, GA. Siblings are Roberta Gilbert, Columbia, LA; Eva Lewis, Senoia, GA; Delphia Fegans, Garland, TX; Michael Fegans, Alamuchy, NJ and adopted sister Barbara Davis, Detroit, MI; seven grandchildren, and several great-grandchildren, a host of nephews, nieces, grand nephews, and nieces.
