Obituary
MATHAR CARTER, JR., was born in Monroe, Louisiana, to Mathel Carter,Sr., and Cora Lee Carter on January 10, 1958. He was one of two children born.
Mathar enjoyed the outside, attending to his animals, hunting, fishing, and working. He spent his life working in the woods, a place where he felt most at peace. Among the trees and open air, he found purpose, joy, and a sense of home that shaped the man he was. He knew every trail, sound, quiet moments, and he carried that with him throughout his life. Those that knew him could see how working in the woods was his passion.
Mathar leaves to cherish his memories: his wife, Katie Carter of Columbia, LA; six children, Sharon Carter of Columbia, LA, Belinda Carter of Houston, TX, Mathel Carter, Jr. III (Lesika) of Clark, LA, Shante’ Jordan of North Dakota, Richard Jordan of Many, LA, and Brandy Jordan of Columbia, LA; grandchildren, Dedric Cloman, Jr., Cheronisha Carter, Briona Carter, Malachi Carter, MaKyla Carter, Ej Lusk, Jesse Lusk, Briyanna Lusk, Rashad Calloway, Jr., Ta’Shaun Calloway, Quan King, Jr., Braylee Alston, Naomi Higgins, and Jayshon Jordan; great-grandbaby, Amias; sister, Rose Cortez; and a host of cousins, family, and friends. Mathar was preceded in death by his father and mother, Mathel Carter, Sr., and Cora Lee Carter; and grandchildren, Jamare Simmons and Khyson Seals.
