Mary Perkins was born May 7, 1925 in Delhi, Louisiana to the late Moses and Annie Washington.
Mary attended school in Delhi, Louisiana. She later met the love of her life Wade Perkins and they were united in Holy Matrimony, to this union Mary blended three children and eight was born.
Mary accepted Christ and became a faithful member of Seven Star Baptist Church under the leadership of Reverend D. L. McCall. There she remained a member until her death under the leadership of Reverend Larry Harris
Mary attended Sunday School faithfully with her husband Wade at Green Grove Baptist Church.
Mary was a loving and caring mother. Always putting family before herself. She often encouraged them to put the Lord first in their life. She treasured her family and embraced every moment with them.
Mary worked in private homes and was a homemaker.
Mary was preceded in death by her husband, Wade Perkins, three sons; Clarence Whitney, Wade Perkins, Jr. and James Perkins. One daughter; Atlean Bennett. Six brothers; George Washington, Robert Washington, Bill Washington, Jessie Washington, Sr., Henry Washington, and Moses Washington. Seven sisters; Carrie White, Pauline Harris, Bernice Smith, Julia McDowell, Pearl Washington, Theola Thigpen and Ozzie Lee Neal. One son-n-law; Perry King and two grandsons; Anthony King and Tyrone Perkins.
Mary leaves to cherish her loving memories: Seven Children; Viola King, D. C. Washington, Shirley Perkins, Annette Thrower (Olee), Charles Perkins, Terry Perkins and Kathy Perkins Sampson all of Las Vegas, Nevada, Thirty-one Grandchildren, Thirty Great Grandchildren and Four Great-Great grandchildren. Two sisters; Earline Washington and Gladys Hawkins of North Las Vegas, Nevada. Devoted niece and nephew Louise Henson, Debra Ann Washington and Henry (Mary) Washington. Special friend and neighbor Barbara Ann Turner.
Oh yes, Mary was a classic dresser. Her hobbies included Quilting, gardening, making Preserves and being a Hai Dresser. She had a passion for Baking and was famous for her Jelly Cakes and Tea Cakes. But, to the Grandkids they were GRANDMA’S BIG COOKIES.
