Mary Katherine Wilson

  Sister Mary Katherine Wilson was born to the late Alford and Ida Bell Williams Wilson on October 7, 1942. Mary, affectionately called, “Mae”, attended Waverly High School. She joined Mt. Zion Baptist Church at an early age. She was faithful in the Lord’s work, as she used her voice to sing in the choir, and she served as the fellowship hall coordinator.

            Mary had a passion for cooking. She faithfully dedicated 55 years of her life to Richland Parish Hospital in Delhi, LA as a cook in the cafeteria. Mary also enjoyed leisure activities such as gardening, and Trade Days.

            Mary had a personality full of life, sass and a lot of heart. She had a comeback for the comeback. She enjoyed Bible study, watching westerns, spending time with her brother, Ellis, also known as Peaches, and laughs and debates with her godson, Vince.

            Mary is preceded in death by her mother, Ida Bell Williams, and her father, Alford Wilson. She departed her earthly home on Monday, September 13, 2021.

            Mary leaves to cherish her memories, two brothers: Ellis E. Herring, Sr., of Baton Rouge, LA, and Willie (Equillar) Wilson of Delhi, LA; six sisters: Prince Ella Williams of Los Angeles, CA, Daisy Jones, Roberta Wilson, Clara Wilson, and Christine McDowell of Delhi, LA, and Mary Mozeke of Colfax, LA; two godchildren: Vincent “Vince” (Kimberly) Brown of Houston, TX, and Vivian (Bo) Jones of Delhi, LA. Also included in her precious memories are a host of nieces and nephews: Rhonda (Reginald) Taylor, Ellis L. (Martha) Herring Jr., James (Shantel) Herring, Brandon (LaQuisha) Butler, Elena Herring and Anthony George; along with special friends: Myra Haskins, Fannie Williams, Betty Carroll, Alberta Edwards and Lula Miles.
