Marjorie "Moody" Jones was born September 6, 1953 to the Samuel Burton and Nellie Ree Brown Burton Greely. Marjorie accepted Christ at an early age and was baptized at Union Hill Baptist Church (Bosco, LA) under the leadership of Reverend A. T. White. She later joined Logtown Baptist Church under the leadership of Reverend Ronnie Washington.
Moody as she was fondly called by family and friends, attended Richwood High School. She also attended and graduated from Job Corp. In December, 1972 she married Eineest “Shack” Jones
Moody was a hard working woman, she managed and cooked in various restaurants from Louisiana to Vegas. Her “Good” cooking became a trademark in the community and at family events.
She transitioned from life to Eternity on May 1, 2021. She was preceded in death by her father, Samuel Burton, Her mother Nellie Ree Brown Burton Greely, and her sister, Sonya Burton Wilson.
She leaves to cherish her memories: her forever love, Kevin Williams; one daughter, Tonya Burton-Lasley (David) of DeSoto, Texas; two sons, Zachary Jones and Kareem Jones of Pearland, Texas; sisters, Mary Greely (Joe), Joyce Greely (Julius), Katie Carr, Sue Galloway, all of Monroe, Louisiana, and Elaine Burton of California; brothers, Samuel Burton, Billy Burton, Shelby Burton, David Burton, Gregory Burton, and Michael Burton all of Monroe, Louisiana; grandchildren, Cordrecus, Robert, III, RobShassity, NelSade’, I’mUnique, Zachary, and De’Ari; Great Grandchildren, Jaterrica, Cordrecya, Carmille, Riya, ZaRryah, ZaRaven, David, III, Davi’, Davian, and Zaliyah.
