MAMIE MARIE DYKES-HOUSE was born on October 10, 1960, to Charles Eldridge Kie and Mary Washington Kie in Monroe, Louisiana.
Mamie departed this life on May 7, 2026.
Mamie accepted Christ at an early age and joined Morning Star Baptist Church under the leadership of Reverend W. T. Thomas. She served faithfully throughout the years as a dedicated member, Sunday School Assistant Superintendent, and church clerk. She remained a faithful member until death and is dearly missed and loved. Mamie was a beautiful, strong, caring, and phenomenal God-fearing woman.
Mamie attended Delhi Schools and was a part of the Delhi High School Class of 1978. She was a bus driver for the Richland Parish School System for 28 years. She also worked at Delta Mini Mart (Mamie’s Store), Dairy Queen, and Marie’s Sitting Service.
Mamie was preceded in death by her parents, Charles and Mary Kie; sisters, Lena Faye Washington and Lula Mae Martin; niece, Sandra McCants; and nephews, Jimmy Brown, Dontae Bowman, and Donald Morrison, Jr.
She leaves to cherish her memories: her loving husband, Lynn House; a faithful, loving, and devoted daughter, LaQuenchia (“Paul”) Stroud; two loving sons, DeMarcus Dykes of Las Vegas, NV and Ronnie (“Jenny”) Smith of Monroe, LA; a daughter whom she raised as her own, Jasmine Washington; godchildren, Dontavious Burpoe, Bruce Parks, and Kainnon Young; and numerous other children whom she loved.
She also leaves four brothers, Charles Elzie Washington (Gladys), Alvin Ray Kie, Sr. (Pecola), Leroy Martin, and Richard Martin; six sisters, Georgetta Gray, Evelyn Brown, Earlene Stapleton (Jimmy), Barbara Ogonenwe (Nnamdi), Ericka Day, and Lora Bowman.
Her precious memories will also live on through her grandchildren, JerQuishya Dykes, Glenesha Davis, Justin Dykes, Jer’Nya Dykes, Brianna James, Sariyah Crockham, DeMarcus Dykes, Jr., Harmony Dykes, and Kalina Smith.
She also leaves her loving aunts, Mary Kie Bradford, Florence Kye, Julia Carroll, Jezebell Washington, and Prentis Kye.
She also leaves her close and dear friends, Mary Liz Puckett, Sallie McDowell, Mary Kennedy, Alice Moore, and Sadie Walker; the Delhi High School Class of 1978, especially Deborah Thomas; and a host of cousins, nephews, nieces, and other friends.
