Brother O’yah Smith was born on June 27, 1976 to Robert and Cynthia Smith of Monroe, Louisiana.
O’yah was baptized at an early age at Saint Timothy Baptist Church in Monroe, Louisiana, under the leadership of the late Reverend John Allen, III.
He attended Lincoln Elementary School and was a proud alumnus of Carroll High School.
O’yah was a former employee of Gardener Denver of Monroe, Louisiana. He was a caring person and a loving father. O’yah never met a stranger and would give his last to anyone, if asked.
O’yah leaves to cherish his memories: his wife, Nikita Smith of Texas; four sons, Deshon Mariland, O’yah Smith II, Malik Smith, and Fred Higgins of Texas; three daughters, Malacresia Walker, Onyae Walker of Texas, and Omyah Floyd of Monroe; two brothers, Lakunn Smith and Zayeron Smith of Monroe; three sisters, Yushelia Smith-Reed (Charles), Quateadra Smith, and Latronia Emerson-Moore (Sam), all of Monroe; one grandchild, Kennedy Paster of Texas; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.
