Mother Maggie McFarland Jenkins was born June 29,1923 to proud parents Abe McFarland Sr. and Beulah Harris Wilhite in Mangham Louisiana.
She accepted Christ at an early age at the New Bethel Baptist Church of Delco, Louisiana under the leadership of the Late Reverend W. L. Jones. Later united with the Friendship Baptist Church under the leadership of Late Reverend Charlie Nash. Some years later she united with the Tried Stone Baptist Church under the leadership of Late Reverend E. D. Nation.
She received her education at Eula D. Britton High School in Rayville, Louisiana.
In 1947, she united in Holy Matrimony with Willie Jenkins Sr. They enjoyed 26 wonderful years together. Five children were born to this union.
Mother Jenkins was employed by Northeast Louisiana University for over 30 years.
She was proceeded in death by her parents, husband, a child, Willie Jenkins, Jr., siblings, Dorothy McDowell, Abe McFarland, Jr., Roosevelt McFarland, Elvis McFarland, Edward Lee McFarland, Janie Wilson, Hattie Bea Hudson, Willie Lee McFarland, Junior Lee McFarland, and Eddie James McFarland,
Mother Maggie Jenkins leaves to cherish her memories: seven children; Mary Jenkins of Independence, Missouri, Arthur Jenkins of Ferriday, Louisiana, Delorise Lewis, Bettye (Eugene) Smith, Jimmie (Artmasue) Jenkins, Richard (Amanda) Jenkins, Sylvia (Jonathan) McKinney, all of Monroe, Louisiana; a daughter in Law, Katie Jenkins of Shreveport, Louisiana; a sister, Emma Wilhite Burks of Chicago, Illinois, a brother, Reverend Robert (Lizzy) McFarland of Milwaukee, Wisconsin; three sister-in-laws, Gladys Ellis of Las Vegas, Nevada, Rosie (Archie) Turner and Lula Brown, both of Waterproof, Louisiana; a brother-in-law, James Williams of Sacramento, California; 24 grandchildren, 50 great-grandchildren, 10 great-great-grandchildren and a host of niece, nephews, other relatives, and friends.
