Mae Lee Perry Spencer was born to the union of James and Pearl Lee Perry on May 23, 1951, as the second of seven children.
She accepted Christ at an early age and was baptized at the Union Valley Baptist Church of Baskin, Louisiana, under the leadership of the late Reverend David Slack. She later joined the choir under the leadership of the Reverend Joe Lee Spencer and remained in the choir under the leadership of current pastor, Reverend Arthur Miller, Jr. She served dutifully in the ministry.
She departed this life on July 28, 2024, after a span of sickness, trials, and tribulations. She died peacefully in Legacy Nursing and Rehabilitation of Winnsboro, Louisiana.
She graduated from Franklin Parish Training School. She also attended Cloyd’s Beauty School.
Previous places of employment included La Sevilla Fashions, Bancroft Bag in Monroe, Louisiana, and went on into early retirement from the Franklin Parish School Board in Winnsboro, Louisiana.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Thomas Spencer; father, James Perry; and brother, James Edward Perry, Sr.
She leaves to cherish her memories: her daughter, Barbara Perry (Marcus); grandchildren, Lanaya Perry, Amari Rose, Kayston Rose, and Kanon Rose; mother, Pearl Lee Perry; siblings, Charles Perry, Barbara Perry Lynch, Vincent Carl Perry, Michael Tracy Perry (Imgard), and Jacquelyn Perry; two goddaughters, Jackie Galloway and Alexis Giles; special friends of Class of 1969, Johnnie Lamb and Jackie Hunter; and a host of nieces, nephews, other family, friends, and church family.
