Lueretter Bess James

Lueretter Bess James was born in Monroe, Louisiana June 20, 1943, to the union of Emma Hawkins and Sam Bess.

Sister James grew up in Monroe, Louisiana where she attended Terzia High School. She was employed with Ouachita Council on Aging under Meals on Wheel for many years. She graduated from Richwood High School and Delta Community College.

She worked as a greeter, nurse assistant, and caretaker.

She accepted Christ at an early age and joined Calvary Missionary Baptist Church where she served as a member of the food bank.

Her favorite Bible verse:
Proverbs 31:10
“Who can find a virtuous woman?
For her price is far above rubies.”

On October 10, 2010, Lueretter united in holy matrimony with Johnny Lee James.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Sam Bess and Emma Hawkins.

Her siblings were Mary Bess Davis, Samuel Phillip Bess, Letis Bess, Gloria Bess Burchett, Doris Bess Glover, and William Bess.

Her children were Wander Bess Turner and Theron Tyrone Bess.

Her life will be cherished forever by her husband, Johnnie Lee James; five grandsons, Arlando Bess, Lamario Ricks, Chris Majors, Damon Tony and Anthony Lewis; and three granddaughters, Terri Majors, Kristen Reed and JeLesia Tarver.

She leaves her special great-grandson, Jayceon Johnson; and special nephew, Jesse Davis, Jr.

She also leaves her godson, Latwan Winston; 24 great-grandchildren and four great-great-grandchildren; and other relatives and friends.
