Mother Lou Vern J. Cooper was born on December 3, 1931, to the late Wash and Eda Jordan. She departed this life on September 23, 2020, at Glenwood Regional Medical Center.
She was baptized at an early age. She was a faithful member of First Baptist Outreach under the leadership of Pastor Eric Price. She was a mother of the church and also sang in the choir for many years.
She married Levell Cooper, Sr., and to this union, nine children were born. One daughter, Diane Goldman, preceded her in death.
She was preceded in death by her brothers, HP Jordan, WJ Jordan, Willie Jordan, Charlie Jordan, and Bill Jordan; and sisters, Lucille Richards, Loretta Ervins, and Edna Lee Hatten.
She leaves to cherish her memories: six daughters, Emma Hilliard, Jennie V. Dunn, Debbie Williams, Gloria Fontenot, Elaine Jordan, and Detina Cooper; two sons, Levell Cooper, Jr., and Glen Jordan; four sisters, Lillie Hyde of New York, Nancy Henry of California, Shirley Fair and Annie Pearl Cooper, both of Sicily Island, Louisiana; two devoted sons-in-law, James Hilliard, Sr., and Rufus Fontenot; 25 grandchildren; 58 great-grandchildren; eight great-great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, and family friends.
