Mr. Leon McDonald, son of the late Reverend Williams Leon McDonald and Ola Sims McDonald Hollis, began his life’s journey on March 12, 1956, in Monroe, Louisiana. He transitioned into his eternal rest on Thursday, April 9, 2026.
Mr. Leon McDonald was preceded in death by his parents, Reverend Williams and Mother Ola Hollis; and six siblings, Gracie, James, Betty, William (Bubble), Robert, and Katie Lee.
As a young man, Mr. Leon graduated proudly with the Class of 1974 from Richwood High School, a role that reflected his determination, leadership, and quiet confidence. Those who knew him understood that he carried a steady strength and calm presence that spoke for itself. He was the kind of person who did not have to say much to be remembered. His character, loyalty, and pride left lasting impressions wherever life took him. At an early age, Leon accepted Jesus Christ as his Lord and Savior.
More than anything, Leon loved his family. His children and grandchildren were a source of pride and joy, and he found happiness in family gatherings.
He leaves to cherish his memory: his son, Johnathan Hamilton of Monroe, Louisiana, and his daughter, Valerie Hall of Denton, Texas. He was a proud grandfather to two grandchildren, Emmerie Hall and Jayden Harris of Denton, Texas.
He also leaves behind: his four sisters, Mary Cannady (Edward) of Snellville, GA, Maple Wheeler (John) of Pontiac, MI, Mae McDonald (Marvin) of Pontiac, MI, and Belle Jones of Monroe, LA; one brother, Samuel McDonald of Pontiac, MI; special nephew, William McDonald of Pontiac, MI; close niece, Jeanell Jones; and a host of nieces, nephews, other extended family members, and friends who will forever hold onto the memories they shared with him.
Though he is no longer here in presence, the memories he created, the history he made, and the love he gave will continue to live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved him.
