Lena (Mamie) Dean was born on June 2, 1963, to the late Lonnie Dean, Sr., and the late Maggie Hudson Dean. She grew up in Monroe, Louisiana, where she received formal education at Carroll High School. At age 62, she peacefully entered eternal rest on Thursday, October 9, 2025.
Lena accepted Christ at an early age. As a young adult, she became a member of the Antioch Baptist Church under the leadership of Reverend John L. Russell, Sr. Lena was a loving wife, devoted mother, cherished sister, and faithful friend. She will be remembered for her gentle spirit, kind heart, and unwavering love for her family and community. She was also an avid fisher. Her presence brought warmth and joy to everyone who knew her, and her legacy of compassion and strength will live on through the many lives she touched.
She leaves to cherish her precious memory: her devoted spouse, Jackie Ray Edwards; her loving children, Carron Dean (Laquinta Tugler), Marico Russell (Pastor Jack Russell), Dominikka Dean, and Jackie Dean; and her dear siblings, Lonnie Dean Jr., Dorothy Dean, Eddis Dean, Johnnell Dean, and Dango Dean; and a host of grandchildren, cousins, nieces, nephews, family, and friends. Lena’s life was a testament to faith, perseverance, and love. Though she will be deeply missed, her spirit will forever remain in the hearts of her family and friends.
Blessed are those who mourn, for they shall be comforted.
