Mrs. Lela Mae Bass was born Lela Mae Jackson on November 18, 1929 to Olivia Douglas Jackson and Willie Jackson. She was born and raised in Marion, LA and attended Union Parish Training School.

Mrs. Bass dedicated her life to Christ at an early age and began her walk at Mt. Union Baptist Church, in Marion LA.  Mrs. Bass later joined Litroe C.O.G.I.C. where she remained a faithful member until her health failed.

Lela met and married Warren Bass in 1947. To this union five children were born.  She was an employee at the Union Parish School Board for many years before she retired.

She is preceded in death by her husband, Warren Bass, her parents and two sisters: Arrie Lee Owens and Hattie B. Henderson and brother: Prince Jackson.

Mrs. Bass touched the hearts of many and she always had a smile.  She devoted her life to taking care of her family and she truly loved her church.

She leaves to cherish her memory five children, Jacqueline Borden (L.J.) of Chicago, IL., Barbara Bass Bowser of DeSoto, TX, Mical Bass (Melody) of Duncanville, TX, Stephen Bass (LaCheryl) of Marion, LA., and Stanley Bass (Alicia) of Mesquite, TX. 12 grandchildren, a host of great and great great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, friends and cousins.
