Latrice Lajoy Young

Latrice LaJoy Young “Tricey” as she was affectionately known, was a devoted mother to Shi’Zeka and Shi’Destiny, adoring grandmother to Journi and Syr’ Legend, and cherished companioned to Adam. Tricey was called to her heavenly home on May 11, 2023 at the tender age of 43.

Born in, Monroe La, Tricey was the third gentle daughter of Aretha Young and Lawrence Taylor. Tricey was reared between Rayville and Monroe La, with her mother, where faith and family was instilled in her from the very beginning. Tricey attended Rayville and Neville High School, where she was a social butterfly and first developed her love of football. Her genuine kind hearted nature of others led her to become a safe haven for her family; If anyone need anything, no matter how little she had she always gave selflessly and freely.

As mentioned earlier Tricey was a mother first and made sure that her girls and grandbabies felt that they were her first, second, and third priority. Her devotion as a mother/grandmother was her absolute favorite thing to do and she did it exceptionally. As a mother, she was aware of her children’s weaknesses and strengths, yet no matter what, she always made sure they were love and could always find a home in her.  

In her free time, Tricey enjoyed watching Bad Girls Club, listening to blues, reading romance novels, and playing spades or dominoes while spending time with her family. Her musical memory was a gift indeed, as she could recall any song old or new that one wished to remember, by just telling her a word or two.  Her sense of humor was out of this world. Her humorous personality will be greatly missed, but we know heaven will never have dull moment.

She leaves a memory that will be cherished by her grandmother Mary, daughters Shi’Zeka, Shi’Destiny, grandchildren Journi, Syr’ Legend, companion Adam, Sisters Martha (Norman), Demetress (Ellis), Nikki (Termar), Artie(Chris), Geraldine(Calvin), Brothers Jason (Casandra), Alphonso(Felicia), Lawrence(LaTesha), Uncles  Alonzo (Lorna), Patrick (Angela), Aunts Mary (Larry), Brenda, Debra, Sharon, and Linda (Rickey), and a host of  cousins, friends and family.
