Larry Wayne Dickson Obituary

LARRY WAYNE DICKSON, 73, of Monroe, Louisiana, passed away on April 24, 2026, in the city he called home. He was born on September 5, 1952, in Galveston, Texas, and raised in Monroe.

Larry was a proud veteran of the United States Marine Corps. One of his proudest accomplishments was paying off his mother’s home on Oak Street, a reflection of his love and sense of responsibility to family.

He was the father of Larry Jr., Chad, Kelli, Arlicia, and Brandon. He was also a beloved uncle to a number of nieces and nephews, many whom he gifted with nicknames that stuck.

Larry had an easygoing spirit, often recognized by his laid-back but confident stride and the signature toothpick he kept in his mouth. Though short in stature, he had a presence that filled the room, marked by a big smile and a personality even bigger. He enjoyed simple pleasures like watching the New Orleans Saints and classic Westerns, recalling his service overseas as a Jarhead, and spending time with those he loved.

He was preceded in death by his mother, Jessie Lee Hall, whom he closely resembled, and his twin brothers, Alton and Elton Dickson.

He leaves behind his children and grandchildren; four siblings, Bessie Pennie, Robert Dickson, John Hall, and Cala “Sandy” Williams; friend, Bobbie Holmes; and a host of cousins, nieces, and nephews.

Larry will be remembered for his straightforwardness, his humor, and the way he showed up for his family.
