Larry James Lawson was born August 29, 1950, in Rayville, Louisiana, to the late Will and Dolly Ann Lawson.
Brother Lawson transitioned from this earthly life to his eternal home on Thursday, October 12, 2023, at Saint Francis Medical Center, Monroe, Louisiana.
He was educated in the Richland Parish school system. He worked as a truck driver until he retired.
He was preceded in death by his mother and father; one son, Joshua Fitzgerald Young; one granddaughter, Lariyah Lawson; and three brothers, Melvin D. Lawson, Edward Lee Lawson, and Charlie D. Lawson
Brother Larry J. Lawson accepted Jesus Christ as his Lord and Savior at a young age under the leadership of Reverend Walter T. Thomas at Saint Mary Baptist Church in Delco, Louisiana. Larry was a member Greater New Beginnings Christian Ministries under the leadership of Pastor Harold L. McCoy, where he served faithfully, as a Deacon and Mentor, and supported every effort of the church until his health failed.
Brother Larry was known for his wisdom, contagious laughter, and humble spirit, which he shared with everyone.
Brother Lawson married the love of his life, Mary Young, on May 25, 1975, and they were married for forty-eight.
His memories will be forever cherished by: his loving wife, Minister Mary Lawson; one daughter, Felicia Taylor (Reginald) of Kansas City, KS; one son, Larry James Lawson, Jr., of Shreveport, LA; ten grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; two brothers, Johnny Lee Lawson (Geraldine) and Earl K. Lawson; two sisters, Gloria Lawson Scott (Edwin) and Cora D. Lawson, all of Rayville, LA; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
