The world thinks of death as a destroyer of all but let us think of death as a deliverer coming to set us free from the bondage of the flesh. We associate it with going away; let us think of it as arriving, as the voice of death whispers, “You must change homes.” Let us hear the voice of Jesus Christ saying, “You are but coming to me.”
Another busy and active life came to a close on Monday, April 21, 2025, at 9:20 AM, when
Lance Corporal Larry Darnell Washington
was called by his Commander to march boldly to his Heavenly home from St. Francis Medical Center, following a short but intense battle to survive. Born on February 21, 1956, to Bennie and Katie Ruth Washington in Natchez, Mississippi, Larry confessed Christ at an early age.
At a young age, Larry began to learn his father’s business, honing the skills of a masonry contractor, home remodeler, and cement finisher, working projects locally, state-wide and nationally which
are still in existence today. He joined the United States Marine Corps during the Vietnam War Era serving in several locations including Okinawa, Japan. After his military service, he resumed working with his father as a co-manager in Monroe, Louisiana, for the next twenty years.
Larry was preceded in death by his parents, Bennie and Katie Ruth Washington; Brothers: Leon Washington, Archie Washington, and Alvin Washington; and sister, Dorothy M. James.
He leaves the following to cherish his memory: a loving wife of over 30 years, Angela M. Sorrells-Washington of Las Vegas, NV; one stepson, Jesan M.
