Katie Mae Powell

On February 9, 1935, a star was born to Josephine and Robert Kelly in Columbia, Louisiana. On November 19, 2025, God called his star to her heavenly home to rest for all eternity.

Katie joined the church at an early age at Triedstone Baptist Church under the leadership of Reverend E. D. Nation. Katie was on assignment from God. She brought families together, built bonds, and brought laughter that filled the room.

Katie was preceded in death by her mother and father, Josephine and Robert Kelly; brothers, Charlie Kelly, Ernest Kelly, Sonny Simpson, Willie James Kelly, and Ivory Kelly; sister, Lily Mae Hampton; daughter, Carolyn Marshall; and sons, Clarence Powell Jr., Edward Marshall, and Scottie Powell.

Her beautiful life will forever be cherished in the lives of her three daughters, Margaret Kelly, Jacqueline Powell, and Vickie Powell; three sons, Steven Kelly, Kenneth Marshall (Rose), and Robert Powell; and a host of grands and great-grands.
