God’s amazing grace has a way of showing up just when we need it most. Seeing the weary days ahead of his child, on the morning of May 20, 2023, God showed up and His grace and mercy opened the gates to His kingdom for His daughter, Juanita Hundley- Wilmore, and she walked on in.
The curtain of life for Juanita Hundley-Wilmore opened on November 29, 1935, at Mound, Louisiana, to the proud parents Ernest and Clara Hundley.
Juanita was reared at Mound, Louisiana, where she attended school at Thomastown. She was a proud graduate of Thomastown High School, class of 1953, where she was Salutatorian of her class.
Juanita was united in holy matrimony to Jordan Wilmore, Jr., on July 3, 1954.
She found gainful employment with the Madison Parish School Board for over thirty years, becoming a certified dietician and cafeteria manager before she retired. Then, she worked alongside her husband at Wilmore’s Lounge, a business that they owned and operated for many years.
On the confession of her own belief and faith, Juanita accepted Christ as her Lord and Savior and was baptized at an early age.
Juanita loved the Lord and didn’t mind giving him all the praise. She was a member of Rose Hill M.B. Church under the leadership of Pastor Freddie Allen, Sr. Also, she attended, on every occasion, First Colored M.B. Church under Pastor Gerald Williams and St. John M.B. Church under Pastor Anthony Guice.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Jordan Wilmore, Jr.; three sons, Jordan Wilmore III, Lee Arthur Wilmore, and Thoneial Wilmore, Sr.; grandson, Thoneial Wilmore, Jr.; and two sisters, Annie M. Bracey and Pauline Henson.
Juanita leaves to cherish her love and memories: her two daughters, Myrum “Cookie” Anderson of Tallulah, LA, and YaSheka (Michael) Lewis of Harker Heights, TX; three sons, Ernest (Lisa) Wilmore, Tommy (Rhonda) Henderson, and Donell (Barbara) Henderson, all of Las Vegas, NV; beloved grandchildren, Jordynn, Quadarrius (Tunu), Quittarrius (Q), Mike Jr., Caela, Jami, Isheka, Kawani, Kuala, Kwame, Ernest Jr. (EJ), Zakkiyya, Alleshaundra, Ebony, Katie Ann, Jordan IV (JW ) and Sherita; adopted family, the Whitneys; and a host of other relatives and friends.
