Joseph Lee Stubbs Obituary

Joseph Lee Stubbs was born March 9, 1940 in Pioneer, Louisiana.  He was the son of Nancy Lee and Ethel Stubbs.  Joe was raised by his grandparents, Joe and Tempia Austin Lee.  He attended Magnolia  High School, where he graduated.  He was a lifelong member of Mt. Zion Baptist Church.  Rev. L. Carr baptized him at a very young age.  Joe served on the Deacon board until his health began to fail. Joe has been a lifelong Mason.  He enjoyed working with his Masonic brothers.
While growing up Joe worked in cotton fields, soybean, potato and corn fields.  He knew how to plow with mules and tractors.  He knew his way around a farm.  He was somewhat a jack-of-all-trades.
Grandmom always encouraged doing a good job.  In her house you would do it over and over until it was done right.
Joseph was always willing to help other people.  He was kind hearted and gentle.  He loved people and would talk to anybody about anything.  He was also a family historian.  He remembered names. phone numbers and landmarks.
Joe Lee and Tempia Austin Lee raised four grandchildren in their home as their own who only knew them as Mama and Daddy.  They gave them the basics of life and far more.  They each left home cloaked with whole Armour of God.  Joe stayed in Pioneer to raise his family.  Traveled yearly to visit his mother in Philadelphia and New Jersey.  Wouldn’t stay long because he didn’t like cold weather.
Joseph was an animal lover all his life.  Every cat or dog around the house had a name and they loved him dearly.
He will be missed by all who crossed his path because he was someone you never forgot once meeting.
He was married to Jimmie Sue Lee and from that union, he reared five sons.
Joseph is predeceased by his grandparents, Joe and Tempia Austin Lee; parents Nancy Lee Mitchell and Ethel Stubbs; his son, David Earl Stubbs; his brother,  Ethel Stubbs, Jr.; and grandchild, Steven Stubbs, Jr.
He is survived by his sons, Richard L, Arthur Perry, Steven M, Jerry L.; siblings, Ruby L. Mitchell-Belcher, Charles Stubbs, Leila Laurent, Muriel Mitchell-Davis; grandchildren, James (Ricky) Walker, Tempie Scott, Jessica Stubbs, Tekela Stubbs, Marsha Guthrie, Karhonza Bailey, Keiana Stubbs,  Breon Stubbs, Patricia Gibbons, Donovan Stubbs, Arthur Perry Stubbs Jr., Dadrian Stubbs, and David Stubbs Jr.; 16 great grandchildren, and many nieces, nephews and cousins.
